Multifarious Misdirection

Multifarious Misdirection

Today is a picture day.  “Picture This.”  He said.  “Working on the visual side, and hope to give a glimpse of the future.”  Read the title and didn’t exactly know, what it implied, and what interest I might have in such writings.  ‘Multifarious Misdirection.’  As we know, he starts with one topic or mentioning, and then veers off in another direction.  Multifarious and is said to mean: ‘… having many varied parts or aspects.’  Maybe that explains enough and I can move on.  Multifarious and what does that mean for me?  Now redirects and comes into your living room.  Pointer and laser sight zooms in and finds you reading this blog.  Drinking coffee or something, perhaps.  Looks in your direction, and asks:  “What have you done for me lately?”  That is my interest.  How does multifarious misdirection fit in that scheme?  More questions.  Some unanswered.  And that gets his motor running and into low gear.  Just getting started, and he drags us along with the conversation he is having with himself, now appearing on-screen and in digital print.

The word phrase, ‘…up close and personal…’  bothers me.  How close?

How personal?

Are you just being friendly, or are you here to share some multifarious misdirection logic and lore with me?  So far, am a few steps away from you.   Feel safer that way.  Can’t make out what it actually means.  ‘Multifarious misdirection.”  And more so, wonder if it will benefit me.  “What’s in it for me.  What does it mean for me?”  Now that leaves a first impression.  Centers me and makes me think, “Continue.”

Rounding the bend and seeks clarity.  How far back do we go to give this a historical meaning, and ascertain his reference points.  Was multifarious used in Medieval Times?  Are his intentions for bringing all this up, Medieval?  Now that gets my attention.

Prince of Broadway.  Man on center stage taking up space and light.  Getting the applause that was meant for me, and will force the recognition point, “Why continue, what’s in it for me?”   Reminds him to stay on topic.  Up close and personal.  “Relate all this to me, or I will be going now.”   Digital print.  He sees it now.  Knows what must be said next.

Is a private journal posted in public.  Defines what he sees when visualizing the term ‘Public Relations.”  Now he knows.   Tell this.  The history of advertising and of public relations is too often a history of the misdirection of desire.  Make it personal.  “What do you want?”  and he looks closer.  Uses some of his skill.  “What do we want them to want?”  And remembers back when he was in college, back in the days of mid-century history, that he writes about a new idea:  “Want Creation.”  1950 and into the 60’s.  Nation just coming out of world war.  People and their sacrifice and going without.  Now comes the face of black and white television.  Plus advertising.  This is where the term, multifarious comes in.    Conceive and imagine what people are doing, and what they want.

Multifarious:  ‘… having many varied parts or aspects.’

And now we know.  2017.  Many years later.  Consumer Demands.  Materialism.  Back to the question, “What’s in it for me?”

How we answer the question is important.  But is all of this diminished now, because we are not at war, and we have a lot of stuff.  Material possessions.  We have a lot.  Is our current way of life.  If you need or want more,  dial it up,  Amazon.com.  Go shopping.  On demand and in your own way, acquire and return that which does not appeal to you.  On-Demand and that is the prevailing wind that blows me off course.  Multifarious Misdirection and is clear, that the aspects are many, and it is up to you, how to identify what comes next, in the UPS packaged delivery, that gives both excitement and surprise to the life your living, even now.  Online and on-demand.  Power is yours to choose and design what we will call, ‘ Center Stage of Life.’  Answers the question and points in the direction: “What in it for me?  How will I benefit?

Applause please.”

Stoney Blogger and it makes him laugh.   Can now visualize what it means when he talks about, Multifarious Misdirection.  Take center stage.  Direct all the attention to you.  Take up the light and feel the power of heat, with all the cameras on you.  Hollywood and so much more.  Visual presence and it makes you feel like a living god.  Well for some this might be true.  For others, it Is just the outcome of having a smart phone with a camera, and allows taking of SELFIE.  Must be careful with generalizations.  Must stay on topic and measure your response.  “What’s in it for me.  How do I benefit?”

Not sure there is much more I should say on the topic of multifarious misdirection.  Keywords have been stated.  Seems there might be some conflicts of modernity suggested, but am sure its not up to me to state what might be good for you.  Would be interested in hearing about how today’s world benefits you?  But won’t press the issue.  Vices and Virtues and am sure there are plenty.  Want Creation.  Personal Desire.  And it interests me.  A history of misdirection,  multifarious or not, is it Medieval.

Remembers that it is a picture-this-day.   So will plot a course of visuals that might redirect this whole conversation.  Realizes that pictures are not necessary.  But is his protocol now.  Mixed blessing.  One blog.  Two styles.  One with pictures.  One without.  And he remembers to ask,  “How do I benefit? What’s in it for me?  What have you done for me lately?”   And he answers in this way.  More pictures.   Visualization is the key.  Less talk.  Less words.  More pictures.  Is the key.

  1. Been away awhile. What's in it for me? I certainly don't want centre stage. Now I say that I remember a tiny theatre in Edinburgh when when I was a student. It was avant gard. A tiny audience and I didn't really get it. And then the party after where she asked me what I thought of 'The marriage of Heaven and Hell'. I had no idea. I have always been outside. It's just good to think you share an idea.
