SANDUSKY IN THE RAIN

SANDUSKY IN THE RAIN

I didn’t expect much when I came alive this morning.  Woke up and thought I would just resume.  Saw that on Netflix, the movie site that I pay money to, to watch movies.  Resume is a button you push, as an option to hitting the pause button, or the Back To Browser button.  Not sure why I am boring you with this.  Not sure why I named today’s blog, SANDUSKY IN THE RAIN.   Would be easy to forget what I wanted to tell you.  Having a Senior Moment in the middle of the day, when a nap calls and you ignore the phone, might seem as if it was part of the plan:  Just Being Human.

Human beings do a lot of weird things.  But not sure this is the time or place to expand on that.  As for me, didn’t have a plan for Monday.  Thought I would just hit The-Resume-Button and mindless follow my Monday Routine.  Thing is, doing so would not find me blogging.  I do that on Tuesday or Thursdays or on weekends.  But lately, I write but one blog a month.  And notice that others are doing something similar.  Thoughts.com has become dysfunctional, and the blogging crowd has moved on.  For the most part I thought this was true.  But after today, I will rethink all of that, and maybe come up with a different tune to chirp about.

Mind-storm and if I considered myself a slow moving boat, going through troubled waters, I would say, “Blown Off Course.  Considering Sinking.”  Has something to do with posting a title to a blog, I had not considered writing.  Seems the events of an unplanned day have enabled me, and now I find myself writing.  Starts with a title.  SANDUSKY IN THE RAIN.   Then comes spontaneous thoughts and composition, and a general feeling that maybe being blown off course is not such a bad thing.

Personally I thought I was sinking into a habitual pattern for a rainy Monday.  Had tried to concentrate over the weekend, but found it almost impossible to do so.  Followed the buttons on my computer screen.  Came into a comfort zone when I landed on the March Madness NCCA Basketball web page.  Thought I would spend the whole day watching basketball, getting cozy in the man cage, and by staying on the computer night and day, become a screen zombie.  Well that didn’t happen.  Seems that after watching one basketball game, going to the kitchen to make nachos, and other various things one does in the man cave, March Madness alert arrive and lets me know, “Your view privileges have expired.”

In some ways I was disturbed by all of this, but as often is the case when you are retired, and have no friends and nothing to do, there is a Plan B.

Plan B for me was tuning into the basketball games on the radio.  Stopped using my computer as a dysfunctional television.  Hit The-Pause-Button.  Entertained myself in a different way, and tried to forget about it, that I had been lured into watching basketball, by way of some clever marketing scheme that had been months in the making.  Sprung a trap and I had hit the resume button, became  part of something that truly turned out to be unimportant.  Rethinking all of this I decided I would follow their example.   Named a Blog:   SANDUSKY IN THE RAIN.  Now into it and did to you what they did to me.  BAIT AND SWITCH.

Only thing is, I had a Plan B.  Didn’t hit the resume button and pay for continuance.  Instead I found an alternative to watching college basketball on TV or on a computer.  Listen to the radio.   Read a book.  Cook Gumbo in the kitchen.  All done at the same time.  Without actually staying on the March Madness NCAA Basketball web site.  Not sure the advertising and Cable Owners saw this as a viable option.  But then as I said in the beginning.  Mind Storm.  Blown Off Course.  And now its Monday.   Sandusky in the Rain blog is now a perfect example of what I learned over the weekend.  Bait and Switch.  Making things worse by talking about it.  Seems that is exactly what I am doing.

Am working on a Monday Alternative.  Thought it would be a boring day.  One we would not share with others.  Instead, something happened and it transported me to a different Monday and a different parallel universe, and more importantly into a Different Train of Thought.  Thought.com.   Is where I am now.  Blogging.  Inspired by an alert signal at the top of my blogging page.  Part of my Monday routine, to look at Thoughts.com and see if there is any activity I should respond to.

Seems last week and now this week, new people have landed on my site and let me know that they have come to visit.  One was  Girl-in-Saudi.  Another was JimmyBird.  Turns out that both new visitors to my site, inspired me to blog on Monday, when it was something I would normally do in the Tuesday or Thursday routine.  Now I want to tell you why I spend this whole blog writing about the mindstorm I am experiencing, instead of going about SANDUSKY IN THE RAIN.

Girl-in-Saudi got my attention by mentioning a blog I had written in the long forgotten past.  Seems the blog was titled:  LOOKING FOR MRS. DRUMMOND.  So it startled me.  That somebody I didn’t know, would come to my site and see what StoneHead was all about, based on a blog once written.  Turns out I needed to find out more.  Clicked on Girl-in-Saudi web site name and decided to read a few of the strangers blogs.  Turns out I found it interesting, but at the same time I just didn’t know or have a clue what things I might have in common with Girl-in-Saudi.

So I left a private message.  Basically said, “Thanks for coming by my blog site.  Not sure we have much in common, but if we do.  Come back.  Hit the resume button.  And maybe,……..”   So that was one experience I recently  had.  Showed me that I may have jumped to an erroneous conclusion about Thought.com  being on its last legs.  Declining bloggers and declining interest, seemed to be prevalent.   Now I am rethinking all of that.  Mind Storm and Blown Off Course.

Now let me tell you about Event number 2.  Seems I was visited recently by JimmyBird.  Turns out JimmyBird visits and communicates with others that visit my site.  Turns out I have never read a JimmyBird post.  So noticed that I had a visitor to my site.  Went to JimmyBird web page on thoughts.com and spent an hour or so reading.  Found it all very interesting.  Found a blog:  FRAWG BOY DAY on JimmyBird site.  Found it interesting.  Then realized it was all part of the process.  Didn’t hit the Do not-Repost-Button.

After reading Frawg Boy Day blog on JimmyBird’s page, I came across a renewed interest in reading other people’s contributions on Thoughts.com.  Didn’t have all day.  So mainly concentrated on Girl-In-Saudi  and JimmyBird.  Now its late on Monday afternoon.  Finishing this blog and would like to keep it short.  But it isn’t short.   To me it seem excessively long.  And annoys me if I was you, that it has nothing to do with SANDUSKY IN THE RAIN.   Bait and Switch.  Repost.  Conversations with total strangers.

And at the end of the day, it leaves me exhausted.  So now I plan to wander off.  Plan to go to Plan B.  Not sure we are on the same frequency.  Some on TV.  Some on Cable.  Some of Streaming Computer.   IN the end I wonder if it matters.

For those who know me, I just want to say.

Baseball season starts soon.  Damn Yankees.”

 SANDUSKY IN THE RAIN.

FRAWG BOY DAY

FRAWG BOY DAY

Not sure where I got off the beaten path, went sideways with my own thoughts, and lost a few days and the confusion just grew.  Often when this happens, I have flashbacks.  PTSD and blame it on the alphabet soup that gets served up.  Reminds me of a different time, and have been schooled now to only do the present moment.  NO war stories.  Nothing that has anything to do with you.  Not sure who put that in my mind, but it happened.

Added to the abundance of rule-based thinking that once was the only thing I truly understood.  Read books.  Listened to the wisdom of others, thought it would be in college where the results would be revealed and shown.  As it turns out, going to college is where the rational mind gets tested.  And when that over, is where they turn you out.  And you know what happens in THE TURN OUT.  And if you don’t, just ask.

It is St. Patrick’s Day.  The color is green.  For some reason, I thought this celebration was on March 15th.  Well it wasn’t, and now it is. “ Be in the present moment.”  As I get older it is not like that for me.  I have flashbacks.  I have an empty cup, and tis true, don’t drink much now.  Even to the point, the 8 glasses of water per day, is overwhelming and not over flowing in my cup.

Rather, the flow comes and it is spring.  Spring and St. Patty’s Day.  And Lent.  Ok, so I am not in the present moment.  Stoney is all over the place.  Thought it was on March 15th.  Two days ago, and now I am just not into it.  It is over.  Lost it.  Only green triggers in me  a new story.

Has nothing to do with Irish and that celebration.  So over it.  Present moment crap just doesn’t do it for me  Flashback and when it happens it takes over.  Sweats and tragedy.  Distance myself from it, when I can, but then it just happens.  Mental aberration.  10 clicks down-wind.  Its there.  “Mr. Nasty.”  So green and today it reminds me of something, just not what you might be into, in the present moment.  Green and it costs to celebrate.  It costs when you have flashback and they call it locus or even worse, they say it’s a disease.

And it might be.  Forget the clever arrangement of letters.  PTSD.  Disease and sickness.  Who wants to hear about it, when we are busy with the St. Pat thingy.  So he wanders off.  In his own thoughts.  Remembers Dingo Dawg and Frawg Boy.  That’s how it is.  Today.

Everybody wants a piece of the action.  Wants the green.  Celebrate the green. Drink and Party and be in the present moment.  Have fun.  No need to take in the consequence.  Present Moment.  And that is when I have my way.  Not feeling it.  Thought it would be good two days ago.  But like I said.  “Over it now.  Doing flashbacks and well, probably not something to spring on you in the flow of the Irish Spring you are doing.”

Later somebody will ask.  “What about Frawg Boy Day.”  And I will ask.  “Are you sure you want to know?”

Here the words, dingo dawg.  And those in the know, will remind you.  “Nasty.”  And its like the uptake of a cautionary wind.  You don’t need a story to remind you of a dingo, or to extend the conversation to going for the green and greed.  It happens.  Just have to be there.  Present Moment Experience, you might only want to do but once.  In most places, the experience when told is but a story.

Nothing to relate the words to.  Never seen Frawg Boy.  Never got close to Dingo Dawg or its cousin, Dingo.  Civilized and we just don’t go there.  Haven’t gone there.  Can google Dingo, but can’t relate with the fence, and the shooting and the doomsday slaughter that comes with the celebration, when confronted, experienced and digested.

And so it goes.  Dingo Dawg seeks out Frawg Boy.  Tis the time for a celebration.  Time to party.  And those have seen this before.  Back away.  The echo in the wind remains.  “Just plain nasty. It is.”   Present Moment Stuff.  And PSTD.  Hysterical. Historical.  Pandemonium plus when the Dawg and the Frawg get together.

And if you don’t believe me, join us next year.  Around St. Patrick’s Day.  Its quite a celebration.  Just different.

IT TAKES PRACTICE

IT TAKES PRACTICE

It takes practice to repeat the success  you had, just last year.  And as we go through this life, we realize, youth indeed was a gift and exceeded all expectations.   I am one of the lucky ones, but it still takes effort to put out and be received in a genuinely gracious manner.  I extend myself, but by this time in life I know what I am good at.  And am saying this because I was just looking out the window, kind of a gray day, and looks like a whisp of light rain.  But I can deal with that.

Mountains to the west, buildings to the east.  Great contrast and a breath of fresh air, from the mountains and across the water, now reaching out to me, and I am grateful.  Thinking about being in the mountains or just in climate and weather, dealing with the next incident of life.  Terrific.  And brings me to understanding how fortunate my life has been.  But then arrive back to my first thought.   It takes practice.

Baseball thoughts.  Spring Training.   It takes practice to be this good, but is why they pay them and discard them when performance wanes.  As for me,  I see the big picture.  Mountains to the West.  Buildings in the East.   Stand tall and improvise.  Check out the online hype and then wander off.  Call it a day.  Most are stuck at the office, or in a sweatshop, or at home working the computer.  Just managing.  Getting by.  And I notice today is Chinese New Year.   Was at the Asian store just yesterday.  Was fun to see the people out and about, preparing to celebrate with their families.  I liked that.

For me, it mostly about Tiers of Family.   Am the grandfather type now.  Flux and flow between the constant of thought and dream, mixing Asian seasoning with Euro-Refinement.  Mediterranean Diet and  all of this reminds me to say by prayers, brush my teeth, and wave when out in public and you pass me by.  Not that the baseball season is fast and furious and fleeting.  So many ways to make the adjustment, gage the pitch and strike out.  Is what I do when I go west into the mountains, leaving the city behind.   I find it cute that Chinese New Years celebration surrounds me with the pink of Cherry Blossoms, and crab bisque.

Takes practice  to dabble in the cultural affairs of people you don’t even know.  Takes practice to blend in.  And I am thinking, who cares that you were just this close to winning 2 Super Bowls in consecutive years.  Can you throw a  97 mph fastball.   Can you out run me?

Heartbeat and strong hands is almost enough to turn the corner on yesterday, and make your way along the corridor of wisdom and truth.  Is important to know what the children are doing, but as it turns out, with cell phone and smart device in hand, its all so deceptive.  Not like everything is a countdown to disaster, but as the election year gets closer to electing a supreme commander and chief, you see people lining up and hoping to get some of the offerings the system dangles in front of the ambitious ones.

As for me, it takes practice to look the other way.  Go back to Day 1   and Transcription 12.   Memorize the parts I missed, and hope to improve.   Calgary.   Hockey.   Lent.   Cold enough to shiver and not go around with bare feet.  Mostly seeking out a lull in the storm.  Seeking a walk down to the ferry dock, and then due west.  Into the mountains.  Not working.   Have enough for now.   Plants on the deck below are turning green.  No worry stalks me and not really tomatoes that inspire me to practice more.  Heartbeat and strong hands, and I adore you.   That’s enough.   For now.

Technical difficulties do not deter me from practicing on the wire of the unknown.  Slip and fall, and you are destined to meet your maker, or so might priced doctor, or at best another trip to Medicare to see if your insurance covers all of this.  As for me I know.  Its just a test.  Its just words they give to you, like an implant for mind control, as they prepare you for the arduous path you are about to embark on.   I remember youth.   I remember the View Nam War.   I remember thinking it would be nice to have a warm bath, but times were brutal.  Deferred and often deported, time warp and stale sandwich.   No McDonalds.  No Subway.

Mountains and Building became a rally cry.  911.  And so it is, it takes practice to keep the peace, rattle a sword and control the sun and the snow and be the star of this afternoons practice.   We look forward to it.  Everybody loves the day their paycheck is deposited.  Chinese New Year.  Drones in my backyard, and I am thinking.   How’s it going.  Anything new?
